Town BelleTown Belle
7 Year Old Mare, Kentucky Bred

Town Belle is a promising Broodmare with a strong pedigree. A winner at the races of $88,000 she is from very strong blood-lines. Her sire Speightstown was the second leading North American sire in 2013 just edged for top-sire by Kitten’s Joy. Speightstown stands for $75,000 this year in Kentucky.

Equally impressive is her mare Clearly a Queen who was a multiple Graded Stakes winner of over a half a million dollars. Clearly a Queen was an excellent broodmare foaling 7 horses, 6 runners and 5 winners including two Stakes Winners. We look forward to a very promising career for this mare who is being bred to Northern Indy in 2014.

Highland Yard's breeding program had a decent result yesterday at the Keenland Sale resulting in a thin profit for the breeding operation. The Justin Phillip Colt sold well for $45,000 whereas the mare Town Belle came up a little bit short at $25,000. All in all not a bad result and we continue to learn the process.

Town Belle
and her foal by Justin Phillip will sell Saturday November 7th as hips 2096 and 2097. We saw the baby last week and he looks great. Not a nick on him as per the xrays and an "A" throat. A photo pf the colt and mom can be found below.

Sept 29
Town Belle and her weanling colt
will sell Sunday November 8th at Keeneland in Book 3 of the sale.

July 22
Town Belle and her weanling colt by Justin Phillip will sell at the Keenland November Breeding Stock Sale. The colt has developed quite a significant prescence with a large hind end. He looks like he is going to grow into a big strong yearling. Town Belle herself looks good and should sell well given her strong pedigree. Town Belle will sell in-foal to Afleet Alex

Town Belle birthed a colt this past Saturday morning in Kentucky. This was her first foal and is by the freshmen sprint sire Justin Phillip.

The colt looks like a first foal, a little awkward and a a little small out of the gate. No beauty prizes for him! I am sure with time and Kentucky blue grass he will be fine. A great job done again this year by the folkks at McCauley Farm in Nicholasville. In two years we have gone seven for seven with live healthy foals, four of those from maiden mares. Thanks for all you do for Highland Yard.
